Thatcham's independent status and reputation for quality makes us ideally
positioned to undertake accreditation. Current legislation and the development
of a compensation culture in the UK are a cause for concern when repairing
vehicles and needing to maintain quality standards.
For Thatcham, this has led to us seeking recognition of our already high quality
standards by achieving the BS EN ISO9001:2008 standard.
In March 2011, Thatcham’s scheme of product certification, commonly known as TQA, changed its title to Thatcham Quality Assurance. As a result TQA is now the single brand for all Thatcham certified products and equipment, following an extension of the scheme’s coverage to include all existing vehicle security categories as well as other automotive related product groups.
As well as TQA, we have identified two other key areas where
accreditation can be of immediate benefit to repairers and insurers —
Technician Accreditation — To enable customers and work providers to differentiate between companies with a properly qualified workforce.
Thatcham TUV Certified Parts — Providing the UK and European body repair industry with an alternative source of proven quality cosmetic crash parts.
Thatcham have adopted the model for quality assurance as defined in the international standard 'ISO 9000' series. This will ensure that the Quality requirements, needs and expectations of our stakeholders are met.
